The Problem

One of the major bottlenecks that plagues the algae industry is the inability to grow efficiently, continuously and at high yield algal biomass in a cost effective manner.  Production consists of three key technological hurdles – cultivation, harvesting and oil extraction – the costs of which must decrease significantly before widespread scale-up can take place.  Once overcome, algae’s multitrillion-dollar industry potential will be unleashed.
